Shopping for a Used BMW I3s Engine? We stock tested used engines pulled from running BMW I3s vehicles across 2018-2021, built with the Electric Drive Motor (181 hp) — optional 647cc REx range-extender engine. Sourcing a used engine like this instead of a remanufactured or dealer-new unit keeps your repair bill down without swapping in an unproven part.
Engine code and specs
The BMW I3s (2018-2021) uses the Electric Drive Motor (181 hp) — optional 647cc REx range-extender engine. Confirm the exact engine code stamped on your original unit against your VIN before ordering, since prior repairs or engine swaps can occasionally change what’s actually under the hood.
Where these engines come from
Every unit in our inventory is sourced from a low-mileage, running donor vehicle — never a salvage engine with unknown internal damage. Units average around 75,000 miles and go through compression and leak testing before they’re listed for sale. We back every order with a warranty of up to 90 days.
Before installing any used engine, it’s worth checking whether your BMW I3s has any open safety recalls that could affect the repair — you can look this up directly through NHTSA’s official recalls lookup tool.
Not sure which engine fits your BMW I3s? Send us your VIN and our team will confirm the exact match before you order. Browse our full used engine selection, our complete lineup of used BMW parts, and if you’re also replacing the transmission, check our BMW I3s transmission listing to bundle both and save on shipping.
